Questions to Ask Before Buying a Steel Building

Pre-engineered steel buildings serve different purposes, from warehousing to factories to offices. It’s not difficult to find a contractor that offers metal buildings, as there are plenty on the market. However, this can also lead to confusion among business owners. How sure are you that you’re dealing with the right seller, supplier, or contractor?

To reduce your chances of making a mistake in your decision, here are some questions you should ask the fabricator or supplier of the metal building:

Where Is Your Office Located?

To make sure you’re doing business with a reputable supplier, it’s important to find out where they are headquartered. Professional suppliers have an office, and you can meet their people if you pay them a visit. Some may even allow you to talk about your needs with their engineer or builder. If possible, it’s best to deal with a local supplier.

This is also an opportunity to ask the supplier about their team, how long they’ve been offering their services, and how many people they have. Other pertinent questions might come to you as the conversation moves along.

Do You Serve My Area?

If you can’t find a local supplier, do some research on the closest you can find. Good businesses often have a good reputation, and you can check whether they deliver to your area. Call and ask them. Some businesses advertise their “national” services, but it’s best to be sure as there are those that don’t really deliver everywhere. Do this before you get too far along in the process.

Do You Have What I Need?

This is another important question to ask the supplier. If you need metal carport kits, make sure they have them or are capable of building them. If they tell you it’s the first time they’ll be building one for you, it’s best to politely thank them and find a supplier that has experience in making what you need.

Are You BBB®-Rated?

The BBB (Better Business Bureau®) aims to ensure a market that’s safe and ethical for businesses and consumers. If a business is consistently good, they are likely to gain a good BBB rating. If they are inconsistent or are simply bad at doing their job and in dealing with customers, their rating will plummet. Ask your supplier about their BBB rating. If they hesitate or refuse to talk about it, that should be a sign to find another supplier.

It’s crucial to find out more about a prospective supplier before you give them your business. Metal Warehouse, Inc. offers prefabricated buildings, including our popular carport. Call us today at (903) 465-6699, or contact us here if you would like to find out more about our products.
