About Purlins & Eave Struts
Purlins and eave struts are the secondary framing that ties a metal building together and gives the roof and wall panels something to fasten to. Metal Warehouse Inc. manufactures C and Z purlins and eave struts in 12, 14 and 16 gauge, primed or galvanized, and stocks the clips and chairs that go with them, sized to your building.
Purlins are the horizontal members that run between the main frames to support roof and wall sheeting; eave struts are the special purlins that sit at the roof-to-wall junction and carry both. Metal Warehouse Inc. manufactures grade 55 purlins in both C and Z profiles in 12, 14 and 16 gauge, with web depths from 4 inch to 12 inch and a choice of red oxide primer or galvanized G90 finish. Z-purlin flanges are nestable, so they lap at the frame for continuous spans. We also make eave struts from 4 inch to 12 inch nominal in single slope, double slope and high eave profiles, and stock the purlin clips and chairs that connect them - so you can frame a complete secondary structure from one supplier.
